During the pandemic, I developed a growing appreciation for the caring of indoor plants, specially the ones more commonly found in Brazil. As someone who had a parent famous for their green thumb, learning to care for my own urban jungle came easily to me.
As drawing is one of the many ways I know how to show appreciation for something, illustrating the plants I learned to care for was the natural progression of it. So during the year of 2021, in a way to keep my mental health in check, I would spend time studying and illustrating many of the plants I had, wanted to have or have seen on my mother's own apartment garden.
This collection slowly grew from illustrations, to enamel pins, to stickers and to even tote bags with the theme. In December 2020 I had some of the designs down for the initial plants and it exponentially grew into many others.
By January of 2021 the Urban Jungle Collection Kickstarter Campaign was launched and we had 367 backers pledging $22,162 to help bring this project to life.
